Target Audience: Professionals working in the field of Substance Misuse and Sexual Health
Aim: The unit provides learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence required to identify potential risk behaviours and promote health and wellbeing relating to sex, drugs and alcohol throughout an individual’s life.
Objectives:
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
1. Understand issues relating to substance misuse and sexual health
2. Understand changing trends and behaviour associated with substance use, sex and risk
3. Know of common barriers that prevent individuals from receiving effective support surrounding SMaSH.
4. Understand how to identify drug, alcohol, and sexual health risks and raise discussions in relation to SMaSH.
5. Know the range of advice and support services for substance misuse and sexual health
Pre Course Qualification:
To ensure all learners attending this course have baseline knowledge of key issues and themes relating to substance misuse, sexual health and motivational interviewing all learners attending are required to have completed all components of SMaSH Level 1. Participants registering for SMaSH Level 2 must submit certificates proving completion of all components prior to enrolment.
